Spotify Arrives In India

Spotify, one of the most popular music streaming services in the world has just made its debut in India. Spotify is now available in India with all-new features specially tuned to match the taste of Indian music fans. It doesn’t matter whether you have an iPhone or Android phone because Spotify is now officially available through the Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store so that you can just install the app for free and start streaming.

Spotify app is completely free but you can upgrade to a premium subscription by paying just ₹ 119 per month and enjoy all the local and international music, along with the benefits like offline music playback, ad-free tracks and stream music to any device you like. The Spotify app is now available on mobile, desktop and tablet.

Commenting on this grand occasion, Daniel Ek, Spotify founder, and CEO said, “As Spotify grows, our goal is to bring millions of artists and billions of fans together from every country and background. India has an incredibly rich music culture and to best serve this market, we’re launching a custom-built experience. Not only will Spotify bring Indian artists to the world, but we’ll also bring the world’s music to fans across India. Spotify’s music family just got a whole lot bigger.” Amarjit Singh Batra, Managing Director, Spotify India, added, “Indians love music. It’s an inherent part of our lifestyle and culture, whether we pray, work, or relax. The mobile internet revolution has led to a rapid rise in the number of connected Indians, making music streaming the preferred way to enjoy the music here.”

Spotify right now has a huge library of music containing more than 40 million or 4 crore songs and 3 billion playlists, that contain both local and international tracks from a lot of artists. Also, another interesting feature of Spotify is that it learns from your habits, and provides better recommendations every day. Spotify is everywhere as you can play Spotify in your car, on TVs, voice and wifi speakers. Spotify also integrates with Google Maps, Tinder and Instagram.

Spotify has revealed to us that they have made changes to the app and tuned it exclusively for India, providing multi-language music recommendations and Spotify’s music recommendation engine can now be tuned to Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu. It has also got City playlists, as it can find the most popular tracks in cities using the new algorithmic playlists tracking.

As of now, Spotify has got 207 million active users out of which 96 million users pay for Spotify Premium. On the platform, almost 30,000 new tracks are added each day. Also, just like Spotify’s presence and operation in 78 other markets, Spotify Premium will be available for free to all users for 30 days.  Users can pay for subscriptions using PayTM,  credit, and debit cards from Visa and MasterCard. Spotify also has music sharing integrations with Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Snapchat. In India, OnePlus, Anheuser-Busch InBev and GoUSA are Spotify’s exclusive advertising launch partners. You can download the app right now and sign up for free or head over to Spotify’s official website to start streaming!
