Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 With 5.1mm Thickness Launched at Rs. 17,999

Micromax has just announced their slimmest phone at their event in Delhi, the Micromax Canvas Silver 5, which has been priced at Rs. 17,999. The phone will be available for sale from the starting of July. For some days, Micromax had been trying to bring a flagship device into the market and there were such rumors. Hopefully, the rumors came true with the launch of Micromax Canvas Silver 5, which is an ultra slim smartphone from their Canvas lineup.

The most notable feature of the phone is its 5.1mm thickness, which the company claims is maintained “end-to-end” on the handset without any bump. Some other phones have this kind of stats, like Vivo’s X5Max sports 4.75mm thickness; though features a bump in the rear camera region. Canvas Silver 5 is also very lightweight, weighing in at just 97 grams.

Another highlight of the smartphone is it supports 4G LTE and similar to the Canvas Knight 2, comes with Airtel’s Double 4G Data offer that doubles the 4G data amount for any consumer. The company also introduced its new service policy for the Canvas Sliver 5 dubbed ‘M! On-site Care’ which promises consumers a doorstep pickup and drop in 7 days.Micromax-Canvas-Silver-5_2

The Android 5.0.2 Lollipop-based Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 supports a single SIM card (Nano-SIM) and features a 4.8-inch (720×1280 pixels) HD Amoled display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor coupled with 2GB of DDR3 RAM. The Canvas Sliver 5 comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage, but doesn’t feature expandable storage support. So, that can be a thing to worry about, however the main key point is the thickness of the phone, so just the non-availability of  the microSD won’t make a huge difference.

The Canvas Sliver 5 sports an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with Sony IMX219 CMOS sensor with a ‘blue glass filter’ and LED flash. A 5-megapixel front-facing camera is there on board for selfies and video calling. The Canvas Sliver 5 is backed by a 2000mAh battery and the phone will be available in gold and black variants.

Micromax also made another announcement that Hugh Jackman will be back to promote the brand as brand ambassador and we might see him in the Micromax Canvas Silver 5 in the starting of July. However, we can see that the only phone that can beat Canvas Silver 5 in terms of specs vs price is the Xiaomi Mi4, which has got a price cut and now available for just Rs. 14,999.
