ASUS Launches ROG Phone 3; Price Starts at Rs. 49,999 - 4

Republic of Gamers or ROG from ASUS is a brand that is synonymous with gaming and under the same brand, two flagship gaming smartphones were launched earlier. Today, ASUS has introduced the all-new ROG Phone 3. Though the phone looks quite similar to ROG Phone 2, there are quite a few improvements here and there.

Commenting on the launch of ROG Phone 3, ASUS Co-CEO S.Y. Hsu said –

ROG loves gaming, and ROG Phone 3 together with the full range of gaming accessories are the ultimate game changer,” he further added, “ROG Phone 3 is undeniably the next evolution of the gaming smartphone. With absolute power, enhanced audio, better phone controls, and a more connected system with our gamer community, the ROG Phone 3 delivers unimaginable gaming experiences and empowers gamers to tailor these experiences as they wish.”

Asus ROG Phone 3 Key Features & Specifications

The ASUS ROG Phone 3 features a 6.59-inch full-HD+ AMOLED 2.5D display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Gorilla Glass 6 protection. But what makes the display interesting is the absolute high 144Hz refresh rate and 270Hz touch sampling rate along with HDR10+ support. ROG Phone 3 passes TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light (Hardware Solution) and Flicker Reduced certifications. On the front of the phone, there are dual front-firing stereo speakers tuned by Dirac for optimal and robust audio experience while gaming.

In terms of hardware, the ROG Phone 3 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865+ 5G Mobile Platform with a clock speed of up to 3.1GHz, along with Adreno 650 GPU and up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM. The chipset enables multi-gigabit 5G connectivity and advanced Wi-Fi 6 performance. While it comes to storage the phone can offer up to 256 GB UFS 3.1 onboard storage for fast transfer speeds. There is no microSD slot for memory expansion, however, it supports USB drives. 

The ROG Phone 3 comes with an upgraded GameCool 3 cooling system that now has an improved Copper 3D vapor chamber, a large graphite film behind the screen to maximize heat transfer, and an enlarged heat sink that’s precisely located to eliminate hotspots. As per the company, it is one of the most effective thermal solutions available on a mobile device. For extra cooling during long gaming sessions, gamers can use the AeroActive Cooler 3 clip-on external fan. With ROG HyperFusion, gamers can take benefit using multi-antenna WiFi and 5G simultaneously.

The ROG Phone 3 also offers an upgraded camera system. There is a triple camera setup on the back consisting of the 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary sensor. There is also a 13-megapixel 125-degree ultra-wide-angle lens and a 5-megapixel macro lens. On the front, there is a 24-megapixel selfie shooter. The ROG Phone 3 can record videos with resolutions up to 8K, apart from 4K HDR videos as well as 4K Slo-mo.

Connectivity options on the phone are quite standard for a flagship gaming phone. The ROG Phone 3 supports 5G, 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.1, Navigation (Via GPS/ A-GPS/ NavIC), USB Type-C, and a 48-pin side port for accessories.

The ROG Phone 3 packs a huge 6,000mAh battery that supports 30W HyperCharge. The phone runs Android 10 out of the box.

The ROG Phone 3 comes with upgraded AirTrigger 3 technology providing precise ultrasonic touch controls along the edges of the phone. With the new AirTrigger 3, new swipe gesture and dual-partition button emulation have also been introduced. There is a side-mounted USB-C charging through which games can charge their phone while gaming or can use it as a headphone jack using the USB-C to 3.5mm dongle provided in the box.

Asus ROG Phone 3 Pricing & Accessories

The ASUS ROG Phone 3 starts at ₹49,999 for the base variant with 8GB RAM & 128GB storage. The 12GB RAM variant with 256GB storage is priced at ₹57,999. It will go for sale in India on Flipkart starting August 6.

ASUS has also launched the new ROG Cetra and ROG Cetra Core Gaming Earphones with active noise cancellation and a large 10mm ASUS essence driver for strong bass and optimized audio experience for gaming. The ROG Cetra is a USB-C connector for multiplatform support, not just for mobile phones but also for PCs, Mac, and Nintendo Switch.

ROG Phone 3 has also partnered with Google Stadia and game development platform Unity to establish a truly integrated gaming ecosystem. Game developers using the Unity real-time 3D content creation platform will get exclusive access to a plugin with five ROG Phone features, allowing them to easily optimize their games for ROG Phone. Google Stadia on ROG Phone enables gamers to stream the latest games directly to their mobile device without the need for downloading. Stadia supports up to 60 fps gaming in resolutions up to 4K UHD, with HDR and 5.1-channel surround-sound support.

The ROG Phone 3 Glass Screen Protector is priced at ₹699 while ROG Clip & Neon Aero Case are priced at ₹.1999. The ROG Phone 3 Lighting Armor case & ROG AeroActive Cooler 3 come with a price tag of ₹2999. ROG Kunai 3 Gamepad costs ₹9999. The newly launched ROG Cetra Headset has been priced at ₹7699. The ROG Mobile Desktop Dock & TwinView Dock 3 are priced at ₹12999 and ₹19999 respectively.
